description of the management structure
The management structure adopted by the experience of the research team is defined by an organisational model, which is based on "working groups" (2 to 3 persons) for each task stage, focused in the management by objectives involving each task. In each task are defined activities for each "working group", organised according to the expertise of the group and its resources. In this way it aims to achieve an increasing interdisciplinary participation and rationalisation of resources per month per task. The timeline shows the organisation of the reports and working groups.

For the reporting structure it is defined 3 progress reports, one for each year of the project. Four milestones are planned, each marking a main objective of the project:

  • Organisation of the fieldwork (building survey and inspection) and database structure and organisation. Development of the GIS platform;
  • Mature version of the GIS application and the programming and incorporation of the algorithms developed for the vulnerability assessment, damage estimation and loss evaluation (probability functions);
  • Development of a mechanical model for the vulnerability assessment procedure for masonry buildings and bilateral validation with other methodologies; and finally;
  • Creation of post-earthquake assessment sheet.

In order to review the work and move forward in the tasks, the team has established that the first milestone is defined just after the beginning of task 3, the second after the end of tasks 3 and task 4, and the third at the end of the project. Periodically (three month interval) are expected meetings between the "working groups", with the purpose of work planning, result discussion and financial report issues. It is also stressed that the research team has in the past worked together, which increases the good organisation and relationship between all members.
